Durga puja is not even a month away and I am sure you have already started on your Durga Puja preparation. For my friends in India, durga puja 2007, was a tremendous blast as usual. Some of the idols are really gigantic and the Puja there are really gorgeous.

Durga Puja 2007 revealed an opportunity for me to visit Houston Durga Bari. It was really a grand experience spending the whole day with them seeing the Durga Puja. I was really amazed to see how they created the ambiance that held the true spirit of Hinduism and every religious discourses to the fullest extent. Things are really tough to be sketched in words. Hey... it's time again to get carried away by the wave of fun. Yes, Durga puja is approaching fast and I am sure you guys have already started off with the Durga puja preparation. I got mails from my friend Writu, Dhruv and Shalini this weekend. They said they have already started cleaning their house. Dhruv disposed off his old couch and got the house painted. Well that's pretty expensive and not all people afford to paint the house each year. But decoration has always been one of the most significant part right before Durga Puja.

Me, My Friends, Cherry and Some Friendship Day scraps

Hey... here I am after a long span of time with a news really interesting! I just wanted to share with you guys something that I cannot resist my temptation talking about! We have a new addition in our family... Cherry! Yes, she is a little cherry Head parrot that I got from my friend Ace just a few months back. Interestingly Cherry had no red mark on her head until the last week and we thought she would not have the red head like her mum Chi-Chi. But as she is growing she's developing a light red tint on her head. Ace told me that she would develop the bright color like her parents by 2 years. A long way to go... she is only 7 months old!

Anyway, what are your plans for Friendship Day? I'm planning for a drive out with my friends. Have not decided but I'm sure we'll have a real fun! Sad news is that, not only me, my friends too will miss Ace. She is one of the most fun loving member of our pack! Ace is flying off to Philadelphia tomorrow eve to her older sister and is gonna be back on Aug 15th. Time's changed; I know emails and SMSs do not work well these days! I will be sending out Ace some really thoughtful messages through some really great Friendship Day cards like the once below. Just check these out and let me know what you think...

Bengali new Years Cards - Bengali New Years Day Greetings

Last Year, Dhruv (bengali dude and also my neighbor) invited me for their Bengali New Year's Day party at their home. I had no clue how it is celebrated or whats going to happen at the party. They invited the whole Bengali Association and I was the only non Bengali invited as Dhruv's friend. It was quite amusing anyway. Everyone was speaking in Bengali, which sounded funny. It made me feel I am no more in Texas, but am visiting Bengal. I quite liked the various kind of fishes that were included in the menu. The spices used were quite different, even the oil was mustard oil I guess. We are not into mustard oil at all. But I liked the flavor. I had proper Bengali cuisine for the first time and enjoyed it. I don't have a sweet tooth , so didn't try the famous Bengali sweets at all. This year, Dhruv told me that Bengali new Year is on April 15. I hope they arrange the party again and invite me too.
